Sponsors

The week doesn't sell reach, or a logo over the content. It sells something harder to come by: a legitimate reason to be on the city's specialty bars for seven days.

Someone pays for the map, the Field Guide, producing the events and bringing the producers to the city. The cafés pay a production fee; sponsors carry the rest.

We would rather have a few partners who are part of the week than dozens of logos. A sponsor shows up where it makes sense: with its name on a real part of the week, in the Coffee Lab, in the crate that reaches every bar, in a workshop people actually want to attend. Not in a row of logos over the content.

What a sponsor receives

  • 01

    Access to the edition's bars

A legitimate reason to walk through the door of every participating café: a service visit, a delivery in the edition's crate. It is the hardest thing to get for anyone who sells to cafés.

  • 02

A named part of the week

“The edition's water”, “the edition's service bench”: a real part of the week that carries your name, on the site and in the printed guide.

  • 03

    Your tools, in use

At the Coffee Lab, what you make is used all week inside experiments people come to see: a roast on Tuesday, a grinder comparison on Thursday, an extraction on Saturday. Experienced, not displayed.

  • 04

    The Field Guide

A designed, printed object that people keep after the week.

  • 05

    A place in the program

A clinic, a water session or a maintenance workshop at a participating café, produced and promoted by the edition.

  • 06

    The café roster

The list of participating cafés and one introduction to them, on the terms below.

Four ways to take part

Presenting partner

The edition's largest relationship, across the year.

The Coffee Lab

Present the Lab as a whole, or hold one specialist part of it: measurement, live extraction, water, sample roasting, brewing or data.

A category

A part of the week under your name, in your field, and support toward printing the guide.

Supporting

Goods or service in the crate that reaches every participating café, or a smaller integration.

An institution can take part too, with training, endorsement and credibility. No money in either direction.

What holds for everyone

  • What you put in the crate reaches the cafés whole. They pay the edition a production fee, and the edition does not resell what you give or take a margin on it.
  • We ask for goods and labor, not discount percentages.
  • Categories are cut narrow, so companies that complement each other can take part side by side. Nobody owns something as broad as “coffee analysis”.
  • No exclusivity for espresso equipment brands: in this city many cafés also distribute equipment, and none of them should find a competitor holding a named place in the edition.
  • The café roster comes with one introduction. It isn't resold or added to campaigns, and if a café asks for it to stop, it stops there.
  • We don't sell or hand over visitors' personal information. Any contact with them is opt-in.
  • We don't guarantee attendance, sales or press coverage. It's a first edition, and we say so up front.

Categories we're looking for

  • Payments and banking
  • Hospitality and travel
  • Water filtration and treatment
  • Coffee equipment and grinders
  • Measurement and instruments
  • Dairy, plant milks and ingredients
  • Urban mobility
  • Printing and production
  • Technical service and parts
  • Compostable packaging
  • Media
